Find My Android without Device Manager

Phone Number

Current GPS Location

Track Current Android Location Without Pre-Configuring

Nowadays mobile devices are an essential part of modern life. We talk, actively use social medias, browse Internet, play games, interact with bunch of Android apps and services. Some of us use these devices for work-related purposes (Google account and applications make it a far more pleasant experience). Smartphones and tablets make our lives easier. But just imagine that one day you may unexpectedly lose it. Hopefully, you have enabled PIN code or graphical password protection on your Android phone or tablet, which means you are virtually safe from data leaks and only need to figure out how to get your lost or stolen device back. For such cases, Google developers created “Find My Android” feature activated via “Device Manager” app. The greatest challenge lies in the fact that a number of conditions must be met to launch this mode.

Find My Device Mode

“Lost Devise Mode” activation is a perfect method for searching a lost device. However, in real life, many users ignore recommendations regarding creating a “Device Manager” account. Moreover, one must remember an email specified at sign-up and a password to launch this “Lost Devise Mode”. It may take a lot of precious time to recover this data.

Disabled Geolocation

By disabling location services, you can save battery charge or even preserve your own privacy. Many inexperienced users take this step. However, in case of losing a device, these actions will be a serious obstacle in searching for it. Disabled Geolocation makes it impossible to activate “Find My Android” feature via “Device Manager”.

Internet Connection

Android Device can be disabled even when a screen lock via a passcode is used. “Find My Android” can’t be used on a switched off device, since mobile data will not be transmitted to a network.

Android Firmware

Any major service center can “reflash” Android for restoring factory settings and even assigning IMEI from some other identical device. In this case, any standard app for determining a current device location will become useless. Fortunately, this procedure is illegal and very few people will take on this work.

What if One of the Above Conditions is Unachievable?

Launch Tracker

Activate SS7 PL Tracker online from any section of this website. To do this, you must specify a phone number in international format and click the “Find” button.

Location Obtaining

Initiating a remote interception of a cellular signal by phone number and decrypting received data. The process is fully automated and doesn’t require any involvement.

Tracker Confirmation

Message “Success” in the dialog window means that your Android device location has been discovered and you can obtain its current location on detailed map after subscription purchasing.

Wallet Replenishment

Add funds to your account balance with one of the supported methods. After 3 confirmations from Blockchain, your funds will be available for depositing.

Customer Support

PL Tracker Team values each client, pays special attention to feature accuracy and strives towards constant service improvement.

Satisfaction Level

That’s the very number of clients willing to use this service once again, according to a recent poll. We appreciate this figure.

Frequently asked question

  • What Android devices are compatible with PL Tracker? This software package is compatible with any mobile devices and cellular providers that offer GSM compatibility.
  • Is this software package capable of determining the exact location? Due to their operational principles, GPS satellites don’t allow determining the exact object location. This measure is meant to ensure military security. That’s why indicators will always differ by several square meters.
  • What notifications will be send to an Android Device? When SS7 cellular network vulnerability is exploited, it doesn’t affect a target device’s performance. Thus, a current user will receive zero extra notifications, and won’t notice any operational anomalies.
  • How much time does a location determining session take? An operation can be completed in 2-to-10 minutes. It depends on cellular tower deployment density, as well as on security degree of a carrier’s server side.
  • In what cases should the software package be used? If you can’t determine device location using the built-in “Find My Android” feature. Please note that PL Tracker will help only in determining your device location – you’ll have to retrieve it on yourself or aided by law enforcement agencies.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Your suggestions and ideas are important to us – feel free to leave some in the Feedback Section or contact our Customer Support Team.

Find Your Way Without the Internet: 7 of the Best Offline Maps Apps

By Dave Dean Plan an Adventure April 13, 2020 3 Comments First published in 2019

Whether you’re getting off the grid, don’t have a local SIM card yet, or just prefer not to be connected all the time, you’ll undoubtedly find yourself traveling without the internet at some point.

The good news is that being disconnected, by choice or otherwise, doesn’t mean being lost. Many navigation apps work entirely offline, and the GPS in most smartphones and tablets also doesn’t need a data connection to work. There’s no need to break out the paper maps quite yet!

Can I Use GPS Without an Internet Connection?

Yes. On both iOS and Android phones, any mapping app has the ability to track your location without needing an internet connection. Without getting too complicated, the GPS system inside your smartphone works in two different ways.

When you have a data connection, your phone uses Assisted GPS, or A-GPS. This uses the locations of cell phone towers and known Wi-Fi networks to figure out roughly where you are.

When you first load your navigation app, you’ve probably seen your location go from a big blue circle to a smaller, more precise circle.

That big circle comes from the cell tower and crowd-sourced Wi-Fi information, while the smaller, more precise circle comes once the information from GPS satellites gets added to the mix.

A-GPS doesn’t work without data service, but the GPS radio can still get a fix directly from the satellites if it needs to.

Finding the initial location will take longer with this method, and the accuracy will be more dependant on things outside of your control like terrain and surrounding buildings, but it does work.

What About My iPad? Does That Have GPS?

In its infinite wisdom, Apple decided long ago to only put physical GPS chips into its higher-end iPads. Models with cellular data (3G or 4G/LTE) include a GPS chip, but the Wi-Fi-only models don’t.

Those cheaper models rely entirely on Wi-Fi triangulation, meaning they’ll track your location somewhat effectively if you have a Wi-Fi connection, but not at all otherwise. As a result, they’re not much good for navigating offline while traveling.

Does Using Airplane Mode Turn Off GPS?

Most people assume that putting their phone into airplane mode disables all radio services, but that’s not entirely true. While Wi-Fi, cell service, and Bluetooth all stop working in flight mode, there’s at least one important exception: GPS.

Читать еще:  Как настроить автоматический перевод в мобильных браузерах

Because the GPS radio can only receive, not transmit, it’s not always necessary for it to be disabled during flight. As a result, GPS doesn’t automatically turn off when you enable airplane mode on recent versions of either Android or iOS.

That’s a benefit for travelers, especially those without affordable cell data overseas. Keeping your phone in flight mode lets you avoid roaming charges, while still being able to effectively use it for navigation.

If you’re paranoid about being tracked by GPS when you don’t want to be, however, you can still turn the GPS radio off manually.

To disable GPS tracking on iOS, go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. On Android, you’ll find equivalent settings for turning off location tracking under Settings > Security & Lock Screen > Location on older versions or Settings > Location on newer ones.

Which Are the Best Offline Maps Apps?

There are many different offline navigation apps out there, but not all are created equal. We’ve covered seven of the best of them below, and since they all have somewhat different features and specialties, you may find yourself using more than one during your trip.

Note that no matter which app you go for, offline maps for the entire world won’t be automatically available on your device. Make sure you download the necessary map data for the country or region you’re going to ahead of time.

These maps are often quite large (hundreds of megabytes), so they’re best downloaded in advance over Wi-Fi.

MAPS.ME

With well over a hundred million downloads, MAPS.ME has easily proved its offline navigation credentials. The app gives you walking, cycling, or driving directions at any time, with real-time public transport and traffic information available when you’re online.

Maps are taken from OpenStreetMap’s extensive database, and there’s a wide range of points of interest including restaurants, cafes, and much more. The company has also put together custom itineraries for 600+ cities around the world, which are also available offline.

If you do happen to be connected, there’s a useful location-sharing feature that lets you send a link to a travel companion (or anyone else) who wants to see where you are.

All features of MAPS.ME are free to use as long as you’re happy to see a few ads. If not, you can pay for a weekly, monthly, or annual subscription to remove them.

Android and iOS, free (with ads)

CityMaps2Go

Covering 150+ countries both online and offline, CityMaps2Go offers detailed city guides as well as the standard navigation features. You can choose to download both, or just the map data.

You can save any number of locations in advance, letting you create a custom itinerary of places to visit and things to do. Usefully, your saves sync across all of your devices.

All of the usual points of interest are included, along with short reviews written by other app users. Public transport information is also available for many cities.

The free version of the app is ad-supported and lets you download a single offline map at a time. Upgrading to the Pro version removes both the ads and the map limit.

iOS and Android, free or from $10.99 for Premium.

GuruMaps

If you’re interested in recording your journey while you explore, check out GuruMaps. Formerly called Galileo Offline Maps, the app lets you track where you go, monitor real-time stats like distance covered and average speed, and share the resulting file in the common GPX and KML formats.

You can download maps for an entire country with a single tap, which is much more convenient than selecting individual areas or regions. Bookmarking and offline searching are also included.

Most features of GuruMaps are free, while the others (including GPS tracking) only cost a couple of dollars. It’s a straightforward, inexpensive, and useful offline navigation app.

iOS and Android, free or up to $3.99 for extra features

Here WeGo

One of the pioneers of offline navigation, we’ve been using Here WeGo for several years (and reviewed it in the past). It remains an excellent choice, despite a new name and changes of ownership over the years.

Downloading maps for entire US states or 100+ countries can be done with a couple of taps, and includes walking, cycle, and vehicle-based navigation. Driving instructions are particularly strong, including turn-by-turn directions.

When you’re online, you’ll get public transit directions in 1300+ cities, and you can even book a taxi if needed.

Here WeGo is available for Windows and in a desktop browser as well as the mobile apps. Plotting out itineraries and bookmarking points of interest is easier on a big screen, and can be saved as “collections” that sync across devices.

iOS and Android, free (ad-supported)

Maplets

Maplets takes a different approach to many other offline navigation apps. Largely focused on the areas other tools don’t cover, its 12,000+ maps cover everything from national parks and mountain bike trails to college campuses, theme parks, and much more.

You can mark any spot on the map for later use, measure the distance between two points, and draw routes. You can export these notes for backup or to share with others, and GPS tracking is supported on some (not all) maps.

The app isn’t free, but if you plan to spend time off the beaten path or anywhere that traditional maps don’t cover well, it’s well worth the money.

AllTrails

For something entirely hiking-focused, check out AllTrails. With the details of 75,000 trails across 100+ countries, it’s a comprehensive resource for anyone looking to lace up their boots.

The free version of the app lets you search for, bookmark, and view trail information online. Results can be filtered by length, user rating, or difficulty, and you can even find those that are child or dog-friendly.

Detailed route information is available, often including photos and reviews, along with driving instructions to the trailhead. You can also record any trails that you walk or cycle for your own use or to share with others.

The free version is ad-supported. To get access to offline maps, create, print, and sync custom maps, and other features, though, you’ll need to pay for the Pro version.

iOS and Android, free (ad-supported) or $29.99/year

Looking for more hiking apps? We covered a wide range of them here.

Google Maps

Google Maps is easily the most well-known navigation app out there, but many people aren’t aware it also works offline.

While you used to have to mess around typing “secret” codes into the search box to enable offline support, it’s now baked directly into the app. We covered how to do it, along with many other Google Maps tips, here.

Offline features are more limited than some of the other apps listed here, with directions only available for driving, not walking or cycling. You can still search for addresses and landmarks, and see where you currently are, however, regardless of what method of transport you’re using.

Not every country in the world has offline maps available, but most do.

4 Ways to Find GPS Coordinates for Any Location

Plus how to get latitude and longitude for your current location

There are certain occasions when you need the exact coordinates for a specific location, but most map applications don’t show that kind of data front and center because it’s not something that is needed very often. I’ve learned that getting the GPS coordinates can be very handy if your GPS device can’t find a specific address.

If you’re like me and haven’t updated your Garmin or TomTom in years, then a lot of newer areas simply won’t show up when you search for them. Also, if you are short on data usage, it’s probably not a good idea to use your smartphone for getting directions. In these types of cases, I simply use a service like Google Maps to get the coordinates for the address I am looking for and then I just plug those into the GPS in my car.

In this article, I’ll show you a couple of different ways to get the GPS coordinates for a location. I’ll even show you how you can get the latitude and longitude for your current location using your smartphone (iPhone and Android).

Google Maps

I use Google Maps mostly for my mapping needs because I think they have the best data and the most features. To get GPS coordinates using Google Maps is really easy. There are two ways you can go about it.

Firstly, go to maps.google.com and type in the address or location you are interested in. Once it has loaded, you can just look in the address bar and you’ll see the coordinates are contained within the URL itself.

What if the location you are trying to get coordinates for doesn’t have an address that shows up in Google Maps? That’s not a problem either. In that case, you can just right-click anywhere on the screen and choose What’s here?

This will bring up a small box that it located directly below the search box. At the bottom of that box, you will see the decimal coordinates listed.

Bing Maps

I also mention Bing Maps because they do show the coordinates front and center, which is nice. Just search for any location and you’ll see the coordinates displayed on the left hand side.

For a location without an address, you can simply right-click anywhere on the map and it displays the coordinates automatically. So Bing is definitely easier to use when looking for GPS coordinates.

iPhone Coordinates

If you’re looking for a quick way to give someone the current coordinates of your iPhone, you can do it very easily using the Compass app. However, before you just open the Compass app on your phone, you first need to change some location settings. To do this, tap on Settings and then tap Privacy.

Now tap on Location Services at the very top.

Scroll down until you see Compass and tap on it. If you see it already says While Using on the right side, then you’re already good to go.

If not, tap on it and choose While Using the App.

Now go ahead and open the Compass app and you will see your current location and the current GPS coordinates at the bottom of the screen.

Android Coordinates

Unfortunately, Android does not have an official built-in way to get GPS coordinates from Google Maps. I have no idea why this option is not included, but it isn’t. However, there is a little trick that you can perform in order to get the coordinates, which requires a couple of extra steps.

First, open Google Maps on your Android device and search for the location you are interested in. Once you have found the location, make sure you zoom in as far in as possible.

Now press and hold anywhere on the screen and Google Maps will drop a pin onto that location. An info or detail card will appear at the bottom and you can swipe up on this card. You should see a Share option on the info card, but if you don’t, you might have to tap the three dots in the top right corner. This will bring up a menu that has a Share option. This sharing method differs depending on your version of Android and Google Maps, but it should be pretty easy to find.

Choose any service or app to share, it doesn’t really matter which one. The point is Google Maps will generate a link and all you need to do is copy that link and paste it into Chrome.

When the map loads, it will automatically show you the coordinates in the search box and in the info card at the bottom. The link will look something like this:

http://goo.gl/maps/xPu9k

Note that you can also perform this exact same operation in Google Maps on iOS too. It’s kind of a long-winded way of getting the coordinates, but at least you don’t have to install any additional apps.
